A Future Filled with Hope – A New Year Message

As we stand on the door of a new year, we reflect on the past and anticipate the future. Amid uncertainties, the words of Jeremiah 29:11 echo with assurance and promise: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” These words were spoken to God’s people during exile and hardship, yet they reveal the heart of a loving Father who never abandons His children.

God’s Sovereign Plans: God’s plans are not reactive but purposeful and intentional. As Christians, we believe that God’s hand guides us even in the face of trials. We can hold fast to this truth in a world filled with turmoil and persecution. The same God who sustained His people in exile walks with us today. No persecution, no opposition, and no worldly force can stop the divine plans laid for us.

The Reality of Christian Persecution: The past year has been marked by increased persecution against Christians around the world. Many have suffered for their faith, standing firm in the face of oppression. In places like Pakistan, India, Iran, Syria, Nigeria, and North Korea, believers have endured hardship, yet their faith remains unshaken. This prompts us to hear Jesus’ words in John 16:33: “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Persecution is not a sign of abandonment but a testament to the power of faith. The blood of the martyrs continues to water the seeds of revival. Even in suffering, God’s plans remain unchanged for hope, prosperity in spirit, and eternal reward.

A Year of Spiritual Renewal and Expansion: As we enter this new year, we are reminded that Christianity is not waning but growing. The persecuted church is often the most vibrant. Across the globe, people are coming to Christ in unprecedented numbers. The love of Christ, demonstrated by those who refuse to deny Him even under threat, draws more hearts to salvation. This year, let us believe that Christianity will be the most embracing faith, not through force, but through love, truth, and the undeniable power of God.

Embracing Hope and Trusting the Future:  God’s plans for us are not always visible immediately, but they are always good. As we face this new year, let us trust that even in darkness, God is writing a story of hope. Our task is to remain faithful, persevere in prayer, and love boldly.

Isaiah 60:1 says, “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.” This year, let us arise as a church, shining with the hope that comes from trusting in God’s promises.

May we hold Jeremiah 29:11 close to our hearts as we enter the new year.  God’s plans are not distant dreams but present realities unfolding in His perfect time. Let us walk forward confidently, knowing our future is secure in Christ no matter the trials ahead. This will be a year where faith grows, love spreads, and the kingdom of God expands. Amen.
