The Rescue of Jameela Sultan and Six Families from Modern Slavery

 Jameela's Freedom

Two weeks ago, our team undertook a mission to rescue six families from the clutches of modern-day slavery at a brick kiln in central Punjab. The group included three Christian and three Muslim families, united in their suffering under the cruel treatment of the kiln administration.

The situation was particularly harrowing for the young girls and women, who endured sexual exploitation at the hands of the kiln owner and others. Our pastor played a crucial role in gathering information about the families' plight, risking his safety to shed light on their dire circumstances.

Today, we are sharing the story of a young girl named Jameela Sultan, the 15-year-old daughter of Muhammad Sultan, who has been enslaved in a brick kiln since before her birth. Sultan and his family of five worked all day at the brick kiln, yet their debt continued to increase daily.

Jameela Story:

Fifteen-year-old Jameela Sultan lives a life far removed from the dreams of most girls her age. Born into the harsh reality of Slavery, Jameela has known no other world.

Jameela, her three younger siblings, and her parents worked day and night, molding, carrying, and stacking bricks under the sun. She and her mother were forced to work in the evenings in the office of the kiln owner, who conducted his private affairs at that time.

One day, while he was drunk, he sent Jameela's mother out from there and then forcibly raped Jameela. At that time, she was in her late thirteen. Over her Screams, Mother tries to open the door, and the guard and Kiln manager beat her badly. After a couple of hours, Jameela was released by the kiln owner, Malik Yousaf. He even threatened her mother, warning that if she or her husband tried to file a complaint against him, he would frame them for theft and robbery.

This situation muddled the whole family, but the poor and helpless family was unable to do anything against the culprit who ruined the life of their daughter.

After that, whenever the Kiln Owner wants, he takes Jameela from her workplace or home. She was not the only girl who faced such torture; many other girls like her faced similar harassment and sexual exploitation from the Owner and others.

God Sent Help:

As we mentioned, a few Christian families were also at that kiln. Fortunately, a close relative of one of the Christian families visited them and discovered everything that was happening there.

He knew our team pastor, who had been gathering information about the Christians trapped in the kiln. That relative shared all the details with our pastor, and together, they decided to visit the kiln to gather more information. It was then determined that we would rescue six families from the kiln, all of whom had faced sexual exploitation and harassment.

Rescue Mission: A New Beginning

Late at night, during a heavy rainstorm that covered all of Punjab, our brave team carried out a daring rescue. The rain kept the guards away, giving us the perfect moment to act. We rescued six families from the brick kiln, including Jameela and her family, who had suffered greatly.

After the rescue, we quickly arranged for their travel to a large city in Pakistan. Today, Jameela and the other families have started new lives there. We provided them with homes, new jobs, and medical care for those who needed it.

Jameela's family has also found hope in Jesus Christ. Her father, Sultan, said, "Jesus has freed us from slavery, and He is our salvation." Though they have not yet been baptized, they attend prayer meetings every night and are growing in their faith. We believe that soon, they will be ready for baptism.

We ask you to pray for Jameela's family and others who are seeking Jesus. May they find His light in their lives, and may God lead them on this new path.
