Abduction and Forced Conversion of 14-Year-Old Christian Girl in Sialkot

 Abduction of a Christian girl

In a terrible and alarming incident, a 14-year-old Christian girl, the daughter of Sharif Maish, was abducted in Sialkot city. The abductors are reported to be a Muslim neighbor family, accenting an ongoing issue of forced conversions in Pakistan that has tormented religious minorities for decades.

According to Sharif Maish, Samina Usman took his daughter from their home. When she did not return after several hours, Sharif searched for her. A neighbor informed him that he had seen Samina Usman, Dildar, Hussain, Amana, and Shabir Nazir, taking Sanija in a van to an unknown location. Immediately after learning this, Sharif contacted the authorities and registered a First Information Report (FIR) numbered 46/25 at the Murda Pur Police Station, naming the alleged abductors.

Forced Conversions in Pakistan:

Forced conversions of Christian and Hindu girls remain one of the gravest human rights issues in Pakistan. Over the past 20 years, thousands of young girls, particularly underage ones, have been abducted, forcibly converted to Islam, and often married off to Muslim men. In some cases, these victims are trafficked and sold into domestic servitude, particularly in the homes of wealthy feudal lords in Sindh and Central Punjab.

These incidents are not isolated; they indicate an ongoing issue influenced by insufficient law enforcement and limited societal engagement in protecting religious minorities. Families like Sharif Maish face immense challenges in seeking justice due to societal pressures and threats from influential perpetrators.

Legal Support and Advocacy:

Our organization has taken notice of this case and is gathering initial information to provide legal aid to the family. We are committed to supporting Sharif Maish in his pursuit of justice and ensuring his daughter's safe return. Cases like these underscore the urgent need for reform and the enforcement of laws to protect vulnerable minorities.

We also request our readers and supporters to let us stand together to fight against these injustices and advocate for stronger protections for Pakistan's Christian minorities. Every effort counts in bringing about change and safeguarding the dignity and rights of these marginalized Christians.
