Nagina’s Story: A Ray of Hope Amidst Slavery And Abuse In South Punjab Pakistan

Recently, we rescued 14 Christian families from South Punjab, Pakistan, including Razia and her daughter, Nagina Sabir.

Nagina’s Story:

Nagina Sabir, a 20-year-old Christian girl from South Punjab, Pakistan, lived a life ruined by hardship after the death of her father. Her family’s financial struggles forced her into Slavery at a brick kiln—a cruel reality for many poor families in the region. But Nagina’s situation was even more tragic. These influential figures often prey on the most vulnerable—predominantly Christian girls, whom they target for their sexual exploitation.

While slaving in the suffocating heat and harsh conditions of the kiln, Nagina was subjected to unspeakable horrors. The kiln owner, a man of power and influence, exploited her vulnerability.

According to Nagina, one evening, when she finished her work and was about to go home, the manager called her and said there was work at the kiln owner’s home, and he would pay her extra money. I have spoken to your mother, and she has agreed. She reluctantly went with him. What happened next was unexplainable – she was raped and tortured for one week. When her mother inquired, the kiln manager told her that Nagina was caring for the owner’s sick wife, although the kiln owner’s family was on a holiday trip.

After a week of sexual abuse and physical torture upon her, she was treated as less than human. As if that torment were not enough, the kiln owner coerced her into marrying his elderly driver—a man far older than her, with no regard for her consent or well-being.

God’s Plan: Prayer Request

But God has a Plan to Rescue Nagina; before this forced marriage was conducted, our ECSPE team rescued all fourteen Christian families. Almost every second girl or woman we rescue has a similar sort of story. It is heart-wrenching for us when we hear their stories.

It has been observed that most of the kiln owners often target women and girls not only as a cheap labor force but as objects of sexual gratification. Exploiting their poverty and religious minority status, the perpetrators use intimidation and violence to maintain control. Those trapped in this system have little to no legal recourse. The police and local authorities frequently turn a blind eye to these abuses, allowing the exploitation to continue unchecked.

ECSPE requests you to please join us in prayer for Nagina Sabir and all the girls rescued from kiln slavery, asking for their healing, support, and empowerment as they rebuild their lives. Pray for justice against their abusers and systemic change to protect vulnerable Christians. Your prayers can bring hope and strength to these courageous survivors.
