Fourteen Christian families were enslaved in the harsh reality of kiln slavery. Under the control of a merciless kiln owner and his ruthless manager, their days were marked by back-breaking labor, endless intimidation, and fear. Their crime was their faith; their only fault was being Christian and poor. For that, they were subjected to unimaginable cruelty.
Every day, these families were forced to endure physical torture. The hands that molded the bricks were swollen from the beatings of the kiln owner, who saw them as mere tools. One such example is the story of Imran Masih, father of two Children, who said that once he and his wife attempted to run from the Kiln right after her marriage, the Kiln manager had an evil eye on his wife, Rehana.
He added that we were caught, and they beat me and my wife, and even for weeks, I faced the torture. This did not end there, and then. The kiln owner and manager filed an FIR against me, claiming that I had stolen four hundred thousand rupees from his office. This was done so that I may not try to run again.

Mental Torture And Abuse:
The mental abuse these families endured was relentless. Degrading insults were hurled at them daily, chipping away at their dignity. For the women and girls, the suffering ran even deeper. Along with the grueling physical labor, they faced constant harassment, humiliation, and sexual exploitation at the hands of the men who controlled their lives.
Sana’s story is just one of many, but it stands as a haunting testament to the horrors they faced. “Before my marriage, when I was hardly 15,” Sana recounted, “the kiln owner raped me. It continued until I married Ashraf Masih. Even then, the fear and shame lingered.” With a heavy heart, she added, “Most of the girls and women experience this abuse in the kiln.”
Sana’s words echoed the silent suffering of so many others—women trapped in a cycle of abuse with no escape in sight. Like the other women, her story fueled ECSPE’s determination to rescue these families and bring them to safety. They would no longer be prisoners of this cruel and abusive system.

Ray of Hope: Rescue Mission
But one day, a ray of hope cut through their torment. When We at ECSPE (Emergency Committee to Save the Persecuted and Enslaved) learned of their persecution. Upon hearing their cries for help, ECSPE swiftly mobilized a rescue operation. The team understood that the families were not only trapped by the physical chains of slavery but also by the mental and emotional scars that had been inflicted upon them.
Our team carried out the mission with precision and urgency. Under the cover of darkness and danger, we freed the families and guided them to safety. The joy of freedom was overwhelming, but the scars of the brutal system they had just escaped.
